What is Self-Motivation?

 

IIs self-motivation the key ingredient to getting what you want in life? In reality, self-motivation is an inner process that helps you to move toward your goals in definite motion, with purpose and vision. Drive and determination are two qualities necessary to experience self-motivation.


Since self-motivation is a parallel to the word, “move,” lack of motivation occurs when your life is at a standstill. This equates to fear of failure and what keeps most people from doing anything significant in their lives.

 

Some people allow different things to motivate them. It could be your job, spirituality/religion, your relationships, your family, or your wealth.

 

Do You Have Self-Motivation?

 

Are you motivated? Or are you like most people living life on auto pilot week to week with the only joy coming on Friday night when you can drink enough beer to zone out until Monday.


You can tell a person has high self-motivation when you see them. They have that sparkle in their eye and they are always looking for new challenges and ways to grow and improve themselves.


Growth is synonymous to self-motivation because there will always be room for positive growth. Keeping yourself motivated is not necessarily easy, however, especially when we face obstacles or uninvited trouble that dampens our spirit. Negative thoughts and anxiety often will overtake us crushing our dreams and desires.


Usually we create these problems ourselves by creating expectations of how things should be. When they don't turn out that way, we then get down, angry, frustrated, anxious or depressed.

 

The key to life is to take action without expectation, but rather have acceptance of what is. Just understand that if you are taking action and learning something new everyday your life will unfold before you. You don't need to force it. Just accept it and enjoy it.

 

Are There Certain Skills Involved in Self-Motivation?

 

Discipline, goal setting, and organization are the fundamental skills necessary to put self-motivation to work. If you don’t have these skills already it is never to late to change yourself and learn.

 

Even if you are at a low point in your life right now look back at something you did in your past that required self-motivation. Now try to remember the feeling of being motivated and bring that feeling back.
